While it's a man-made waterfall over a spillway, Vickery Creek Falls, the covered bridge, and mills at Roswell Mill make this a great hike or run close to the city.

Vickery Creek Falls - Trip Details
Roswell Mill offers Civil War era ruins, an impressive waterfall over the historic spillway dam, and a covered bridge all within minutes of the city.
Plus, the scenic trail network offers a variety of hiking along the Big Creek and the Chattahoochie River National Recreation Area. Whether it's the historic mill, covered bridge, or water features that capture your camera's focus, this trip will be one to remember.
The park relies on a numbered waypoint system to navigate its trails. To get to the mill and falls, follow these waypoints:
1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 25, 18, 17, 16

There aren't many natural waterfalls in the area of the state around Atlanta. The closest bet by driving time would be to drive northwest on Interstate 75 toward Chattanooga to visit Cloudland Canyon State Park or Lula Falls at the Lula Lake Land Trust.
To the north up Interstate 985 or Highway 19, there is a high density of waterfalls around Dahlonega and Helen, Georgia like Raven Cliff Falls, Dukes Creek Falls, DeSoto Falls, Dicks Creek Falls, and Amicalola Falls.
